Abstract
This study tries to systematically review the advantages and disadvantages of using ChatGPT in the context of higher education. The current systematic review was done according to the report items and guidelines for review and meta-analysis (PRISMA). To search, the term ChatGPT, chatbot from 2021 to 2023 was used. The search was done in Google Scholar, ResearchGate, Web of Science, and PubMed using Publish or Perish version 8 software. A total of 365 records were obtained. The current review used a total of 30 records that met the screening conditions. it revealed that the benefits of ChatGPT in the field of higher education were mentioned in 22 of the mentioned backgrounds, which equals to 66%. Improving cognitive and learning skills, helping the research and development process, improving the quality of writing, and using ChatGPT includes improving language and a better ability to express and communicate ideas. One of the applications of this type of chatbot is to support the improvement of skills and increase the efficiency of training by automating some tasks. The benefits of using ChatGPT include constant availability, quick response, topics variations, privacy, and easy access to previous information among others. Among the backgrounds examined in this research, 75% mentioned the disadvantages of using this type of chat. Disadvantages of using ChatGPT are plagiarism, moral issues and negative attitudes, the inability to communicate Audio and video, the lack of a human interface, some technical problems, and limitations in multi-dimensional interactions, and other such things.
